About Corkran Carpentry

Growing up, I loved going downstairs to my grandfather’s workshop to watch him repair and build things. Sometimes I would just watch, other times I would mess around with tools and try things myself. Those moments sparked my interest in working with my hands and creating things from scratch.

As I got older, I started gathering my own tools, along with a few my grandfather passed down to me. Before long, I had built a small workshop in my mom’s basement. Over time, I began building small pieces of furniture and restoring old pieces back to their former glory. I’ve always loved antique furniture. The craftsmanship and attention to detail from those days is incredible.

Eventually, I started taking on small home improvement projects around my mom’s house and for family members. I quickly realized how much I enjoyed the work. There’s something really rewarding about improving someone’s home and seeing how much they appreciate it. Word began to spread, and soon people were asking me to help with projects like flooring, drywall, and other home repairs.

I later started working part-time in maintenance for a company in Wheeling, using the skills I had developed over the years. Over time, I worked my way up to becoming the Maintenance Manager, a role I still hold. During that time, I handled a wide range of repairs and projects, which helped me continue learning and growing in the trade.

Eventually, I took everything I had learned and started my own home improvement and repair company.

My grandfather may not be with us anymore, but I’ll always remember those days spent with him in that old basement workshop. Those moments shaped the work I do today.

Thank you, Tom Leonard, for teaching me to do what I love, making homes better and helping people along the way.
